Yael Sharon is an Israeli diplomat and international civil servant who has held senior positions within the United Nations. She previously represented the Israel at the UN and later joined the UN Secretariat, where she served in several high-level political affairs roles. Since 2016, she has served as an Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations. Early life and education Yael Sharon was born in Israel. She studied law with a specialization in international relations and global governance. Sharon earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law from IDC Herzliya, where her academic work focused on international institutions, diplomatic law, and multilateral negotiations. Career Diplomatic service (1999–2005) From 1999 to 2005, Sharon served as a representative of Israel to the United Nations in New York. During her tenure at Israel’s Permanent Mission, she participated in diplomatic negotiations and discussions within the UN General Assembly and various committees, focusing on international law, political affairs, and Middle Eastern regional issues. United Nations career (2005–2016) In 2005, Sharon joined the UN Secretariat as a Senior Political Affairs Officer in the United Nations Department of Political Affairs. In this role she worked on political analysis, mediation initiatives, and diplomatic coordination related to international conflicts and UN peace efforts. She remained in this position until 2016, contributing to policy development and strategic planning within the department. Assistant Secretary-General (2016–present) In 2016, Sharon was appointed Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations. In this capacity she has been involved in high-level policy coordination, advising on international political developments, and overseeing diplomatic initiatives within the UN system.

From 1996 to 2008, he worked within the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, holding the positions of Secretary-Referent, Attaché, Third Secretary, Second Secretary, and First Secretary. From 2008 to 2009, he served as Deputy Director of the Center for Pre-Departure Adaptation and Training of Citizens Traveling Abroad under the Ministry of Labor of the Republic of Uzbekistan. From 2009 to 2010, he served as Director of the Center for Pre-Departure Adaptation and Training of Citizens Traveling Abroad. From 2011 to 2025, he was the Director of AGRO GOLD IMPEX LLC. He is also the owner of GMG AGRO TRADING LLC. Since 2025, he has been serving as the Representative of the Aeternum Tashkent Office.
